1925-P $20 Saint Gaudens Gold Double Eagle NGC MS66+ (plus) Super Gem! PQ+
1925-P 20 Saint Gaudens Gold Double Eagle NGC MS66+ Super Gem! This date becomes really rare in MS66+ condition or higher. Only 2,831,750 were minted, many were melted down and never circulated. This is a sleeper date much rarer than people realize. The denomination was created as a means of exhausting an overage in gold supply due to the 1849 California Gold Rush. They were never intended for general use in commerce as the amount easily equated to a month's wage during the time of issue - making them impractical to carry as a coin. NGC encapsulation offers protection and guarantees the MS-66+ (Plus) condition of the coin. Deserves to be in any high end Saint Gaudens collection. Only 33 coins have been certified in a higher grade. This is a value coin. Struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Obverse: Depicts Liberty striding forward holding a torch and an olive branch with the U.
Capitol building in the backdrop. Reverse: Features an eagle in flight against the sun in the background.
