1908-D $20 Saint Gaudens Gold Double Eagle No Motto Pre 33 PCGS MS64 Blazing
Only 663,750 were minted, many were melted down and never circulated. To find high grade No Motto Denver Mint coinage is nearly impossible. The denomination was created as a means of exhausting an overage in gold supply due to the 1849 California Gold Rush. They were never intended for general use in commerce as the amount easily equated to a month's wage during the time of issue - making them impractical to carry as a coin. PCGS encapsulation offers protection and guarantees the beautiful MS-64 condition of the coin. Certified in a brand new PCGS holder. Conservatively graded in our opinion, has a better look than MS65 Ive seen on the market. No motto and Struck at the Denver Mint.
Obverse: Depicts Liberty striding forward holding a torch and an olive branch with the U. Capitol building in the backdrop.
Reverse: Features an eagle in flight against the sun in the background. Beautiful color and very rare in this condition.
